HAIR GELLING

Kettle
Paint brush (medium sized)
Whisk or fork
Knox gelatin (3 packs per swimmer/event)
Hair elastics ~ large and small
Brush
Hair pins
Bobby pins
Vanilla/lemon extract
Spray bottle with water
Towel
Wash cloth

Gelling Recipe
1/3 cup boiling water to 3 packs of Gelatin (texture of maple syrup)
Step 1 ~ Put hair in pony tail – level with top of ears
Step 2 ~ Divide ponytail into three – braid each section and secure with small elastics
Step 3 ~ Wrap each braid around the ponytail and pin with hair pins to make a bun.
Step 4 ~ Dampen hair and/or hair spray all wispies so flat on head.  Pin fly-aways with bobby pins
Step 5 ~ Prepare gel
Step 6 ~ Apply gelatin with paint brush starting at forehead – paint towards bun.  Ensure paint just past the hairline onto the skin so no chance of hair falling loose.  Cover the bun as well.  Use liberally, should use most of gelatin mixture if not all of it
Step 7 ~ Apply bun cover and secure, use bobby pins to hide string if any

Getting Gelatin Out
Take off bun cover/balloon, remove all bobby pins and hair pins, and undo all elastics.
Wash hair using lots of water, conditioner and a brush.  Comb out lumps of gelatin.
RE-apply conditioner and brush out and rinse, repeat as necessary.
