Synchro Swimmers Capture Bronze at Kingston Meet

Kawartha Trent Synchro Club’s Tier 2 and 3 teams competed at the Kingston Invitational meet on April 5 and all came away with top ten finishes.

In the Tier 3 event the team of Ellen Jamieson, Morgann Kirk, Emma MacDonald, Audrey Masse, Christa Plumley, Emily Vance and Katelyn Wingett placed a strong 3rd in both figures and routine events earning them the bronze medal. “The team had their best competition swim this season,” said coach Tracey Leeson, “Their performance was well synchronized and full of energy.”

The Tier 2 Blue team, coached by Stephanie Breitigam and Kassie Bosnell, placed 5th in routine and 6th in championship. Team swimmers are Amber Allen, Kathryn Creelman, Julia Johnston, Kelly Macgillivray, Madelaine Mossor and Rachel Rutherford. “The team does not have a lot of Synchro experience but are holding their own against the more experienced swimmers” said Breitigam, “The girls’ hard work is starting to show in their performance.”

KTSC’s Tier 2 Red team of Sydney Andrews, Charlotte Bedlington, Richelle Demers, Myranda Hawthorne, Sydney Hawthorne, Nicole Hicks-Casey, Abbie Lombardo and Anna VanHoof placed 7th. They are coached by Amanda Roberts and Catherine Hoggarth. “The team is competing in the largest tier level in the province and their performance in Kingston will help the girls prepare for the Provincial Championships next month,” commented Roberts.

This meet was the final meet for the Tier 2 and 3 teams before the Tier Provincial Championships in early June. KTSC’s Tier 5 team will be competing in the Ontario-Quebec Cup on April19-20 and the recreational swimmers will be in Orangeville May 3. The Kawartha Trent Synchro Club’s annual Splash Bash swim show will be held at the Trent University pool May 4 at 5:00, May 5 and 7 at 6:00.
