Synchro Takes Free Lesson "on the Road"

Kawartha Trent synchro Club recently took their free lesson to the “girls only” day camp at the Peterborough Sport and Wellness Centre. Over a period of 2 hours, campers watched a demonstration, received instruction in some basic synchronized swimming moves and then performed their own routines to music.

Kaileigh van den Berg, Anna Shuwera and Natalie Vander Schaaf were volunteer coaches for the event. The performed demonstrations and worked with the campers in groups. “it was a lot of fun” said Vander Schaaf and the campers seemed to have a good time too!”. Van den Berg said, “I'm really glad I had the opportunity to do this the girls were great to work with”. Shuwera echoed their sentiments, “ I really liked coaching the girls and they learned really fast”.

This was the first time KTSC had tried this Outreach program. It was initially the brainchild of Maria Shuwera and Karen Seymour, both judges and swimmers in KTSC's masters recreational program. “I really feel it worked well”, said Shuwera and we hope we can do it again in the future!”,
