Synchro swimmers awarded in Orangeville
Kawartha Trent had five entries in the Synchro Ontario Trillium recreational routine meet in Orangeville. All had great swims and everyone landed in the top six.
KTSC had three entries in the level one event. The trio of Charlene Allen, Lydia Harris and Myranda Hawthorne placed first in the 9-10 age group competition. They are coached by Laura Henderson and Sophie Monkman. The team of Taylor Brown, Hailey Paget, Katherine Scheuermann, Tina Taskovic and Anna VanHoof placed fourth in the 9-10 age group. They are coached by Mary Kapron and Megan Feige. The team of Britanny Allaire, Emily Beckett, Kathryn Creelman and Shannon Lucas placed 6 th in the 11-12 age group. This group was coached by Mary Kapron and Claire Burnard. Overall, the coaches were pleased with the performances, “All of our girls really did a great job. They swam well and you can see all the hard work they put into the routines really pay off” said Kapron.
In the level two duet competition, Rachel Rutherford and Amber Allen took home top placing. They are coached by Catherine Hoggarth. In the Masters Level 2 duet competition, Nancy Creelman and Maria Shuwera also took home top honors. The Masters duet is coached by Keisha Jolley, “I'm really proud of the ladies. They had some music issues and still swam well.”
The entire club finished their swim show performances this week and the recreation program has now ended. Head coach, Tracey Leeson summed up the recreational season, “It was a wonderful season. Each of the swimmers really showed an increase in skills over the course of the year. I really hope to see them all back next year!”
The competitive swimmers remain in the pool for the next month preparing for Tier Championships, Espoir Nationals and Masters Provincials, the Trillium 12 & under championships and Masters Nationals. The clubs annual awards program and bar-be-que will be held June 6 th at the Peterborough zoo.
