Double Bronze at Synchro Nationals

Kawartha Trent Synchro Club's Masters team and duet both stood on the podium at the conclusion of the National Masters Championships in Ottawa over the weekend.
The team of Danielle Smith, Jennifer Tomlin, Dawn Bolam, Tracey Leeson, Kailee Macklin, Catherine Hoggarth, Robyn Mitchell, Stephanie Breitigam, and Lauren Fitzgerald finished 4th in technical routine and rd in free routine which combined to earn them the bronze medal.
Coach Holly Bosnell was proud of the team, “It was a great meet and the team swam well. They have worked hard all year to compete at Nationals so coming home with a medal is a great achievement.”
This is the first year for a Masters team at KTSC which is made up of swimmers age 20-30 who have returned to the sport after taking time off. “Coming back to the sport this year was a lot of work but we enjoyed it. Placing at Nationals was a great way to end our season,” said Bolam.
In the duet event, Smith and Breitigam placed 4th in technical routine and 2nd in free routine to win their second bronze medal of the meet.
The duet is coached by Leeson, “The competition was so close but their outstanding performance in the free routine moved them up to a medal position. They received their highest scores of the year. I am very proud of them.”
This is the first year that Smith and Breitigam have swum together. “Our goal this year was to swim a strong routine and place top 6 at Nationals. We were very excited when we surpassed our goal and won the bonze,” said Smith.
