Synchro Swimmers Show Well at Eastern Divisionals

Kawartha Trent Synchro Swimmers participated in the Eastern Canadian Divisional Challenge at the Etobicoke Olympium. The team finished with an 8 th place finish in finals. In the Tier 6 16 and over figures event Katie Giles was 25 th , Laura Henderson was 57 th , Megan Feige 60 th , Christine Creelman 68 th and Danielle Gibson placed 81 st . In the 15 and under age group, Claire Burnard was 96 th . There were 240 competitors in this event. Coach Kim Mitchell was very pleased with the results, “We had set a goal to improve our figures scores from Provincial Championships and we really did. The team was 6 th in figures scores. With improvement like that we are hoping to challenge for a podium spot at Espoir Nationals in New Brunswick .” The team had set a goal to have their figures score as high as their routine score by the end of the year. At this meet they exceeded their goal and had a figures score higher than routine. Catherine Hoggarth, assistant coach said, “we got some great feedback from the judges. Kim and I are looking forward to improving the routine before Nationals.”
KTSC has a busy few weeks coming up. The Tier 1, 2, 4 and masters teams will be attending the East regional Trials in Nepean April 14&15. The recreational swimmers have a meet in Orangeville April 28. The club swim show is April 29, May 1 and 3. The masters team travel to Hamilton for Masters provincial championships May 5 and the Tier 6 team travel to New Brunswick for the Espoir Nationals May 23 – 27.
