KTSC Swimmers Fare Well at Opening Meet
Kawartha Trent Synchro Swimmers participated in the annual Lisa Alexander Figures competition at the Etobicoke Olympium on Dec 4 2006. In the Tier 6 16 and over event Danielle Gibson placed 16th and Laura Henderson was 18th . In the Tier 6 , 15 & under event Katie Giles was 11th, Claire Burnard 46th and Christine Creelman 40th . Tier 6 coach, Kim Mitchell was pleased with the start to the 2006/2007 season, “The girls all did very well and I'm proud of them. Our goal this year is to have a combined figure score that is as high as our routine score and by the way things are looking, we can definitely do it!”.
In the Tier 4 Figures event four KTSC swimmers participated in the 14 & over category. Carly Shewen was 10th , Caitlin Flynn 26th , Alisa Woods 28th and Leah Varden 30th . Kaileigh van den Berg finished 13th in the Tier 3 13 & over event. Coach of this team, Holly Bosnell was also optimistic about the start of the season, “We had a strong showing. None of the girls were competing figures at this level last year and they looked well prepared. I'm really proud of the girls”
Kawartha Trent Synchro's Tier 6 swimmers were also invited to participate in the presentation of funds raised by Ontario synchro clubs for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. They, along with swimmers from Durham and Burlington formed a “pink ribbon” in the water while a cheques for more than $40,000 was presented. KTSC's top fundraisers were Hannah Collins, Nicole Hicks-Casey, Sydney Hawthorne, Myranda Hawthorne and Taylor Brown.
Kawartha Trent's competitive Tier 1,2 and 4 teams will be attending the Waterloo Regional Invitational Meet February 17th . Recreational swimmers from the club will be at a meet in Port Hope on February 24th . The Tier 6 team has their next competition at Provincial Trials on January 12th and 13th.
