SYNCHRO SWIMMERS HOLD AWARDS NIGHT
Kawartha Trent Synchro Swim Club held their annual awards night and bar-be-que on June 15 at the Peterborough Zoo. Fourty eight awards for completing Synchro Ontario 's Trillium levels were presented to thirty three recreational swimmers. Christina Hill achieved the Trillium six level, the highest awarded in the club this season. Hill was also the recipient of Synchro Ontario 's recreational solo award.
Each year the club awards the Joyce corner trophy to a recreational swimmer who best combines synchronized swimming achievement, attitude, team spirit, concern for others and potential. This year's nominees were Samantha Gillingham, Kelly Macgillvray, Nicole Hicks Casey, Emma MadDonald, Amber Allen, Marley Hughes, Sydney Hawthorne, Charlotte Bedlington and Maria Shuwera. Winner of the award for 2006 was Charlotte Bedlington.
In the competitive stream, 54 Star Level awards were presented to 25 swimmers. Achieving Superstar 3, the highest level awarded this year were Laura Henderson, Kailey O'Connor, Danielle Gibson, Katie Giles, Krista Wollny, Keisha Jolley and Kelsey Locklin.
Each competitive team named their Most Valuable contributor during the season. Recognized for their efforts were Kathleen Larocque, Ellen Jamieson, Carly Shewen, Krista Wollny and Kassie Bosnell..
The Kawartha Trent Trophy is presented to the competitive swimmer who best combines synchronized swimming achievement, attitude, team spirit and concern for others. Nominees for the award were: Kaileigh van den Berg, Christa Plumley, Danielle Allan, Laura Henderson and Megan Feige. The winner of the award this season is Megan Feige.
Recreational coach of the year was Krista Wollny. Holly Bosnell was recognized as competitive coach of the year and Thelma Flynn was awarded club volunteer of the year. Coach Neyla Diaz was presented with an award of recognition for her three years of service to the club.
